Ramadan is one of the Hijri Months; it is the ninth month in order. Ramadan is month of fasting- it is duty from Allah- and it is the principle ritual. The science proved that fasting is so healthy to the human body. During the fast time, the man stops eating, drinking or smoking, and this process help the body and the stomach to organize nutrition system. Also this month makes us stop doing bad habits and devote ourselves to worship Allah. Ramadan is one of the most distinguished months in Egypt. This month adds more color and fun to the country. Ramadan nights are totally different of the rest of the year. It is a time for inner reflection, devotion to God, and self-control. Many Muslims think of it as a kind of tune-up for their spiritual lives. Fasting is important during Ramadan as it is a means of learning self-control. The astronomers calculated the beginning of the month according to the lunar calendar (Hijri calendar) The main meals in Ramadan are (Iftar and Sohour), the first meal Iftar is just after sunset, while “sohour” the second meal is just before dawn. There are many things that distinguish this month such as working hours reduction at maximum 3.00 sharp, sleeping very late and spend most of time in the mosques.
